Artist's Comments

The Black-Veined Whites spend nights in clusters, and you can easily find groups of 10+ butterflies. Even better, you can manipulate them as you please, for instance to line up several of them in one plane. Of course you have to get to them early in the morning, before their metabolism kicks in.

I hoped for early morning sun rays to illuminate the scene, but it turned out pretty cloudy. I PS-ed the image a bit, so it would look like I imagined and planned it.

It ended up looking like those over-sweetened kitsches with religious and supposedly uplifting captions... bleh...

You have really shown how much character and even grace and poise these little winged creatures have. I love seeing their tiny 'fingers' holding onto the plant, something that's often not visible in butterfly shots. Congratulations on another wonderful image. :moon: _lac

The tears of an angel constitute equal parts rapture and pity. If an angel cries you likely have amused, saddened and beguiled her.
