Apparently there is more interesting stuff going on below a horse fly than above. Hence it makes sense to have higher density of photoreceptors on the bottom of an eye.





It has the most obscene proboscis I've ever seen on a bug (and of course I had to bring it up and draw your attention to it!).

Evolution on the other hand kinda rocks though. Bifocal eyes kinda look hot. I want a pair :o

OK, it's one of the oldest photos in my folio, but I'll try: Canon EOS 10D (or was it D10?), Canon 100mm macro USM, Speedlite 420EX mounted (uch, it's a bit tricky...) on the Tripod Mount Ring B, through a piece of bent aluminium with holes innit, so I could rotate the flash around the lens...
I think I used lumiquest Softbox, or home-made soft box of some kind.

ISO 100, shutter 1/200s, F-14 or 16.
