Artist's Comments

Last Monday I had a pleasure and privilege to make a photo session of the Naturmuseum Augsburg's living collection. Here's one of their animals, an American River Crayfish.

It came out looking like a see food advertisement...Tabasco, anyone?

I had an opportunity to use my Sigma 24mm/1.8 Macro lens on a full frame body (not mine, unfortunately). I'm really impressed by the results, the lens is razor-sharp and is an equal match for Canon's 100mm/2.8 (it's probably much softer in the corners and at apertures below f/8, but still).

Thanks!
cool, that's the idea of it - so it works :D :D !
I have Sigma lenses instead of the Nikkor (I have a D70s) and I've found that the 28-70mm Macro especially has fantastic results. This picture really did come out wonderfully...crisp, colorful and full of life :-) You've got amazing talent...I love to see the work you're able to do.

Thanks for sharing!
Hee, great shot and very well framed! :D
For me the focus should've been on the eyes though or more DOF. Nice to have full-frame though for a change hey. C'mon you need an upgrade. :D

You're totally right about the focus. I've overestimated the dof capability of this glass a bit. Plus the crustacean was running around - and the wide angle was totally confusing when it came to distance assesment. The working distance for the lens starts at 2.5 cm :D . A very funny experience, to shoot with this lens.

God, I need an upgrade BADLY! And a sponsor...
Thank you for your kind words!

:D
too many callories...

thanks!
One of the most beautiful pic that I ever seen! I loved this! :XD:
